Tobii for ALS Patients

ALS, also known as Loe Gehrig's disease, is for those who may not know a progressive neurodegerative disease which affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. It leads to a loss of muscle movement and to total paralysis and then ultimately death. The Tobii allows the patient to communicate through the use of eye movement on a computer screen. An amazing device which allows a bit of independence for those unfortunate victims trapped within their own body.

  1. The problem with the Tobii is that it is so large and does not have a battery, which makes it not portable. It is also too large to see around. The DynaVox EyeMax has a battery, and is of an appropriate size. It is also more accurate much more powerful for communication. You also may want to look at the Alea or SeeTech from Germany if price is an issue. Tobii is more fluff than substance.
