Redneck Hands Free Cell Phone Technology

Well maybe the "high tech" part is a bit of a stretch here but hands free cell phone operation while driving is a long overdue requirement here in the states. No one is a fan of big brother but until people start doing the right thing on their own, guess who needs to enforce the rules. How many times have you seen a soccer mom driving a Hummer with a cell phone in one hand and a coke in the other? Hands free laws have been in place for close to ten years in many countries in Europe and Asia. Blue tooth technology has improved in the last five years to the point where poor sound quality is eliminated as a reason not to go hands free.
It's the way of the future, not new technology just a new way of thinking.
Get on board.

  1. Hands-free technology can still be distracting, but at least both hands are on the wheel, and you can still see. It's also a lot more convenient than fumbling around to get the phone if it rings or if you are trying to call someone. This kind of technology should be standard in vehicles. This may not exactly be future, but it is still not widespread yet here.

  2. thats hilarious haha the phone masy be taper to his head but its hands free. to really go hands free they should make a program for texting like the kind of voice recognition they have for computers lol.

  3. If it didn't look so funny maybe everyone would be doing it "redneck style". I mean seriously, tape costs about the same as a bluetooth!

  4. Although the picture was amusing, it shows how busy people think they are. Hands free devices have been around for quite some time and there is no excuse why people aren’t using them. Not too long ago I was driving on the turnpike and the car in front of me kept swerving into the right lane then swerve into the left lane, almost taking out some cars. The offense—texting! People need to be more responsible while driving, if you are that busy—which you are not—pull over and save a life of an innocent person or yourself.

  5. Thats really funny. Its a good idea, though. I can't stand being stuck behind someone that is too busy holding their cell phone and concentrating on their conversation to drive well! Its super annoying! I can't tell you how many times ive been close to an accident due to some jerk talking on their cell phone.

  6. I've seen this picture before, it is funny, but come on. It's cheaper to buy a hands free when you purchase your phone, so just do it. On the Today show, they showed a bus driver texting while driving, and he slammed into the car in front of him. Texting is worse than holding the phone and that needs to be stopped.

  7. Joe, I think I was the one swerving on the turnpike. No serious, I can barely talk and drive let alone text. I hate texting. People younger than me know all the buttons without looking. It takes me way too long to tap about a message. I remember being in the carseat and my mom poking herself in the eye with mascara. Oh how innocent those time were compared to texting and driving or more accurately, texting and crashing. The gov. of NJ isn't a fan of texting while driving either!

  9. Hands free cell phone technology is very important although it is not just the hands it is also the conversation going on that might have the driver not paying 100% attention. One day i was on my way to work when I saw this lady with a cell phone in one hand the other with coffee or other drink with a cup that covered her sight and putting her makeup on all this while driving. This is absolutely crazy.

  11. I heard the news/radio talking the other day and they were on the topic of the no cell phone law. They were talking about how its not the actual phone that is distracting, but the actual conversation.

  13. Having the cell phone in your hand isnt necessarily the problem. Its the fact that your concentration is focused on your conversation and not the road, the other vehicles and your surroundings. I cant tell you how many people come into the bank with the Bluetooth technology and you are trying to ask them financially based questions and they are so focused on their conversation that they dont even hear you. Some people just cant do two things at once.

  14. I think people just need to take personal responsibilty. If you cant operate a vehicle safely without calling or texting, putt the phone down!

  15. There is an overwhelming amount of bad drivers that ARENT on their phones or texting. Hands free is the way to go. Voice-to-text would be a nice add-on as well, and I put a piece about that on one of my blogs also.
