Keeping Up With The Joneses

I can't put my finger on it . . . but she's VERY effective at talking about the rat race to keep up with all the latest new tech.

  1. I'll buy two, lol. i will agree with her and keeping up with the Joneses. I still can't believe there are people out there doing this, when will they wake up and think for themselves. great video clip.

  2. Aesthetics matter to people. Then again, in this recession, frugality isn't exactly frowned upon here. I hate the idea of planned obsolecence. It makes for a great business strategy, but it hurts consumers. Of course, people often buy way too much to meet their needs. It doesn't take much of a computer if you are only using it for Word and the Internet.

  3. I really don't understand why people are trying to be better then someone else. It's easier to just be yourself. The people who are going broke are the ones who are in such competition with their neighbor. I'd rather live my way and have money.

  4. um, wow. Whats the point in even buying a phone or a computer if in a week, your going to have to buy another one? Not everybody is all about "keeping up with the joneses" or whatever she was talking about. I'm gonna have to say she's a dumb blonde. Buy something that you like and can use for a while, instead of wasting money and resources on buying a new one every time it comes out. wow.

  5. Obviously this video is done in a tongue in cheek style but it would be much more entertaining if the girl didn’t have an accent. The phrase “Keeping up with the Joneses” has been around for a while. The mash-up entry I am working on kind of touches on keeping with the Joneses in a roundabout way. Having thought about it, maybe it isn’t so bad with the economy suffering the way it is. People need to keep buying! Debt be damned! (sarcasm).

  6. i dunno if it was teh accent she had, or the dog popping up in the corner but it was humerous. This is a good point! the way things look definatly matter to people. My parents got rid a perfectly functioning toaster from the early 80 because it was brown & the stains were cooked on. The "new" one has a plug that melted the insulation, can't go wrong with vintage

  7. This is so true though. Everyone always wants more and more and are never happy with what they have. I also second Bill S. I have a new toaster oven that compeletly sucks! I wish I still had my moms old toaster oven that was mounted to the counter!

  10. Perfect example of how consumers are fad driven.
