Texting vs. Morse Code
Pretty funny video from Jay Leno. Old technology vs. new technology. See who wins.
Video is interesting. I would have pick morse code, with texting you have to create the message send it, it has to then go to the cell phone company, and it is then sent to the other persons cell phone. Morse code is a direct line to another person and a professional morse coder can read and write a message as it comes in.
This video was pretty funny, and very interesting. I was surprised that the morse code was faster...If i was the one up their texting, my message would have totally gotten their first! It took that kid forever to try and text that short message...maybe that just shows i text too much..
I really enjoyed this video and it fits well with your content. I guessed that Morse Code was faster, but it is most certainly a past technology. I think a more appropriate battle would have been e-mail vs Morse Code.
This was enteresting. I enjoyed watching it. I think the moris code guys had an advantage. They had morse code experience for 30+ years. Those kids may not even text very often. I think the otcome would have been different if they had less experienced morse coders or more experienced texters lol.
I loved this video, it was funny. I cannot believe how fast people (kids) can text message, but this showed them. I can send a text and one second later I have a text back from them. I just can't figure out how they do it so fast. Well this video just goes to show, there is a reason morse code is/was used.
Great video clip, big fan of Jay Leno. It's ironic how the latest trends in technology sometimes aren't the quickest or the best. Then again I'm not sure how many of my friends know the Morse Code. Another fine example of old technology tweaked.
Morse Code is actually faster than texting. This is surprising. You would suspect that newer technology was faster. Experience, of course, alters the equation. Texting is still easier, since it is easier to read words than to listen to the signal and translate it. I remember a similar story about two barbers who cut hair with different tools. It turned out that the guy with the archaic tools not only made fewer cuts, it was also faster.
Funny video.. very entertaining! I would have said texting was faster but that was fascinating! I dont know, im pretty fast.. I can probably text just as quick!
I would of guessed texting was faster too since i thought with morse code there would of been a lot longer to type out. I'm sure there is so kid out there that can text faster than morse code though.
I loved the video! It is funny that they compared Morse code to texting. They should have the worlds fastest texter go up against the worlds fastest morse coder!
This was a very cool video! I never thought to compare more code and texting! It's pretty obvious though that more code would win because you dont have to move your fingers around as much.
This is a great video. The if I was the Audience memeber I would have picked morse code, text messaging takes time to go in space come back down and go to the other cell phone. Morse code is a direct line to the person on the other side. A great video that shows how communication changes over time.
WOw, how did you guys find this video "im sorry you were beaten by 140 year old technology". This video every more proves that sometimes old technology should not be forgotten but only embraced and revolutionized. Although, they men were not anything less that professionals at typing the Morse code. If you get a 16 year old girl who chews bubble gum and carries a bring red Gucci hand bag and owns a pet poodle named Scrubbles, im sure she would have won this challenge with her texting skills!
My money would have been on the Morse Coders too. There is only button that needs to be pushed and opposed to multiple buttons in different sequences. With the new phones that are out new it is easier to send longer text messages without your thumbs cramping up. Texting wasn’t as cool when I was in high school just a few years ago. Now kids who are only five years younger than me, seem to text compulsively. Cell phone companies must be so happy with themselves as cell phones are only going to infiltrate our lives more and more.
Its nuts how much texting has taken over the country. Everyone I know that is around my age definitely does it way more than they use the phone anymore. It is easy, and a lot faster with less formalities needed. The only negative thing about it for me is the whole "bff, omg, wtf" language that spawned from it.
this was pretty neat. put that message in the hands of some of the people I know with full texting keyboards, and i guarantee they win! Its true that it has to go through the cellphone network and all that, but i have seen some pretty disgusting fast texters.
Good addition to your posts. Videos are a nice touch. Works well for this section. Morse Code was probably the pasts answer to the text message.
