Instead of dropping demos into the hands of a star, or hoping someone catches your act live, these bands realized they can market themselves like professionals for relatively cheap. Technology, such as cheaper better recording equipment and in recent history... the interwebs, has helped starving artists disguise the fact their starving. It's the old sales proverb, "Act As If" ...Act As If you own the place. Act as if your a platinum selling star. Act as if your mothers basement isn't your recording studio AND your bedroom.
